How we research, write, review and update the guidance you read on this site.

Last updated Next review

Every cost, grant and product page on heatpumpcosts.co.uk is researched against primary UK sources (Ofgem, Energy Saving Trust, GOV.UK, MCS), drafted by a human writer, and reviewed before publication. Pricing is updated at least twice a year, or immediately when grant rules change.

We’re funded by installer referral fees when you request quotes. Our editorial coverage isn’t paid for — read our editorial policy and how we rank installers.

Sources we rely on

We cite primary UK sources wherever possible: Ofgem for unit rates and cap data, the Energy Saving Trust for efficiency benchmarks, GOV.UK for grant rules, MCS for certification and noise standards, and Nesta for independent deployment research. Manufacturer claims are cross-checked against MCS certified product data.

How we make money

We operate a lead-generation model: when you request quotes, we pass your details to up to three vetted MCS-certified installers and charge them for the introduction. You never pay us. Installers cannot pay to alter our cost guides, brand reviews, or rankings.

Updates and corrections

Every guide carries a visible "last updated" date and a scheduled review date. If you spot an error, email corrections@heatpumpcosts.co.uk — we publish corrections transparently and re-date the page.

AI use

We don't publish AI-generated content. Tools may be used for research, outlining and copy-editing, but every page is written and reviewed by a human with subject-matter knowledge before publication.
